CTA is a long established consultancy company specialising in all aspects of international trade including trade policy, international negotiations, private sector development and export promotion.
CTA was established in 1980 to provide trade policy advice to the group of ACP states negotiating the second Lomé Convention with the European Commission. Early work focused on assisting African countries develop their trade through policy formulation and export promotion. From the mid 1980s to mid 90s, CTA also branched out into commercial market research, preparing global sector surveys for Frost & Sullivan (New York). Since 1990, CTA has enjoyed a balance of government work (advising on trade policy) and commercial assignments (a combination of marketing strategies, market identification and research and compiling evidence for anti dumping cases).
The mid-1990s saw a broadening in the scope of work, both geographically with assistance to economies in transition and technically with assistance in WTO accession, compliance and negotiations. A list of projects undertaken by CTA is provided here .
CTA has worked throughout the world in Africa, Asia, Caribbean, CIS, Eastern Europe and Balkans, Latin America, Middle East and Pacific.
